I Used This Gel-Based Moisturizer for 8 Days: Here’s What I Felt

Lately, I wanted to take a break from my regular Re’equil Ceramide & Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer. After using it for almost a year, I decided to try something new. This time, I wanted to explore an Ayurvedic formulation.

So, I ordered the Sadhev Aloe Vera and Saffron Gel with Kumkumadi Tailam. The brand, Sadhev, is quite popular in the Indian luxury ayurveda industry and offers a range of interesting products. This gel is also one of its popular offerings.

But is the formulation really effective, or is it just another not-so-impressive skincare product? After using it for almost 8 days, here’s my detailed take on this moisturizer. Let’s dive in without further ado.

5. Capryloyl Glycine

It has sebum-regulating and antimicrobial properties and can help maintain a balanced skin environment.

6. Benzoic Acid

Primarily acts as a preservative, helping prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi and keeping the formulation stable.

And, that’s all! The best part is that the moisturizer doesn’t contain an unnecessarily long list of ingredients that could make the formulation overly complicated. It is also free from parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, and petrochemicals.

Packaging, Texture, Aroma, and Colour of Sadhev Aloe Vera and Saffron Gel

The moisturizer comes in a sturdy, completely opaque glass bottle, which helps protect the formulation from light exposure. It has an overall shelf life of 36 months.

The texture is smooth, soft, and easy to blend. It feels lightweight on the skin and spreads effortlessly without much effort.

The aroma is similar to Kumkumadi Tailam, but thankfully, it is quite subtle and not overpowering.

The gel has a light greenish-yellow colour. You can also spot real saffron strands here and there, which gradually dissolve as you massage the gel into your skin.

8 Days with Sadhev Aloe Vera and Saffron Gel: My Honest Take 

I’ve been using the Sadhev Aloe Vera and Saffron Gel for the past week, and one of the first things I noticed is how effortlessly it blends into the skin.

It gets absorbed almost instantly without leaving behind any white cast or greasy residue. Instead of sitting on the surface, the gel simply melts into the skin, leaving it feeling soft, comfortable, and well-nourished.

Even after around five hours, my skin still looks soft, healthy, and naturally bright. I also love that it is versatile enough to be used as both a day and night moisturizer, making it a convenient addition to any skincare routine.

The fragrance is another pleasant surprise. It has a very mild, natural scent that isn’t overpowering at all. In fact, the fragrance fades within a minute of application, which I personally appreciate.

Now, I do have severely dry and sensitive skin, so I noticed that my skin can feel slightly dry immediately after application.

However, when I touch my face, it feels incredibly soft and smooth. I believe this is because the gel gets absorbed into the skin rather than leaving a noticeable layer on the surface like some heavier creams do.

Another thing I really like is the formulation. It creates a smooth, lightweight base that works beautifully under makeup. In fact, I can see it doubling as a makeup primer, as it helps makeup products glide on more evenly.

It also layers really well with sunscreen. I can apply sunscreen over it without worrying about pilling or an overly heavy feeling, making it a convenient option for my everyday skincare routine.

Does Sadhev Aloe Vera and Saffron Gel Irritate Skin?

No, it did not irritate my skin during my one week of use. I didn’t experience any burning, stinging, redness, itching, or unusual discomfort after applying the gel, even when I used it regularly as part of my skincare routine.

That said, everyone’s skin is different, and a product that works comfortably for me may not necessarily have the same effect on someone with extremely sensitive or reactive skin. If you’re trying Sadhev Aloe Vera and Saffron Gel for the first time, doing a patch test beforehand is always a sensible precaution.
