But, this time when I was purchasing a few personal care items online, I decided to gift myself a branded beard and skin oil. I have always heard of L’Oreal makeup and skincare products for women. Little did I know that L’Oreal has a Barber Club too.

So, it’s been more than a month now that I am using L’Oreal Men Expert Long Beard and Skin Oil. So, how is it? How interesting the ingredients are? Is it effective? Let’s drill the answers.

Editor’s Note: Ingredient Analysis of L’Oreal Men Expert Long Beard and Skin Oil

All the reviews that appear on Cosmetics Arena, are always accompanied by ingredient analysis. So, it’s time to analyze all the components present in this skin oil.

L'Oreal Men Expert Long Beard and Skin Oil Ingredients

1. Isopropyl Palmitate

The very first component is multifunctional. It not only works as a skin conditioning agent but also a binder.

2. Caprylic / Capric Triglyceride

Another safe skin conditioning agent that also works as a fragrance component.

3. Polybutene

It is a component that works as a viscosity increasing agent.

4. Alcohol Denatured

Another multifunctional component. It works as a masking agent, antimicrobial agent, solvent, and viscosity controller.

5. Parfum / Fragrance

Well! I just wish that the brand never included this chemical component. Not only it is unnecessary but also this name does not imply anything about the component.

6. Caprylyl Glycol

A safe chemical component that works as a skin-conditioning agent and also as a humectant.

7. Benzyl Salicylate

This component is often associated with skin irritations. It works as a UV ray absorber and also as a masking agent.

8. Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-Tbutyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate

A safe skin conditioning agent that also works as an antioxidant.

9. Butyrospermum Parkii Butter / Shea Butter

Indeed, one of the best natural emollients that are full of vitamins and antioxidants.

10. Benzyl Alcohol

A synthetic component that works as a preservative and also as a solvent. Well! As per EWG, the safety rating of this component is not so impressive.

11. Limonene

A naturally occurring scent ingredient that is derived from citrus fruits. This is moderately safe.

12. Coumarin

A moderately safe component that works as a fragrance agent and also as a masking agent.

13. Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone

This works as a synthetic fragrance and masking agent.

14. Cedrus Atlantica Bark Oil

Well! It is quite strange that the key active ingredient that is Cedarwood oil is used almost in the middle portion of the formulation. Cedarwood oil works as an excellent skin conditioning agent.

15. Linalool

A terpene that primarily works as a fragrance ingredient.

16. Eugenol

A natural fragrance agent that is found in clove oil.

17. Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil

This is an oil that is derived from the fresh leaves of Eucalyptus. It works as a fragrance agent primarily.

18. Fusanus Spicatus Wood Oil

Another volatile oil that functions as scent agent.

19. Tocopherol

Synthetically derived vitamin E that functions as an excellent antioxidant.

20. Citric Acid

A safe pH adjuster that also works as a fragrance ingredient.

Overall, I think although the list started with some really good ingredients, yet it lost at the end. This skin oil contains too many fragrance components which do not contribute anything to the efficacy of the product. And thus, I cannot rate this oil more than 2.5 out of 5.

Packaging, Aroma, and Texture

The beard oil comes in excellent see-through packaging. Honestly, the packaging made me go crazy over the product. It is quite easy to know when the product gets over.

As you can see, the oil is loaded with too many fragrance ingredients. And thus, it has a soothing earthy aroma.

L'Oreal Men Expert Long Beard and Skin Oil Packaging and Texture

The texture of the oil is absolutely light and colourless. It is an entirely non-greasy oil that is pretty easy to spread and apply.

My Experience with L’Oreal Men Expert Long Beard and Skin Oil

I do not want to make this review a complicated one. It would be best if I describe my experience in bullet points. So, here are the things that I observed after using this beard oil for more than a month.

  • Beard feels soft and smooth for sure, but the effect does not stay for long
  • The texture does not irritate my normal skin
  • Skin feels nourished for not more than half an hour
  • Easy to wash off; just a splash of water is all you need to completely wash off this oil which is a bit odd
  • The non-greasy formula can be used on your entire face and neck as well

So, here goes a brief good and bad points about the L’Oreal Men Expert Barber Club Long Beard and Skin Oil.

My Take on L'Oreal Men Expert Long Beard and Skin Oil

Do I Recommend this Beard Oil?

Honestly, I did not imagine even in my wildest dreams that this product would be such a mess. All those scent components are only degrading its potency. I would rather go for the pure Cedarwood Essential Oil. Definitely, I am not going to recommend it.
